PVREA is now offering several new rate options to better enable energy efficiency and beneficial electrification.
Beneficial electrification is defined as:
The application of electricity to end-uses that would otherwise consume fossil fuels (e.g., fuel oil, diesel, natural gas, propane, gasoline) where doing so satisfies at least one of following conditions, without adversely affecting the others:
- Saves the consumer money over the long run
- Benefits the environment
- Improves product quality or consumer quality of life
- Fosters a more resilient grid
Some examples of technologies that could be beneficial are electric vehicles, air-source heat pumps, certain appliances, and outdoor electric power equipment.
