Distributed Generation Interconnection
The Small Generation Interconnection Procedures and Guidelines applies to all small generating facilities connecting with PVREA's system where the total nameplate generating capacity connected at one-meter location is less than ten (10) MW.
PVREA’s processes for evaluating interconnection requests that are larger than 25 kW systems are as follows:
- Level II Process (Fast Track) – An Interconnection request for a Certified small generating facility no larger than two (2) MW.
- Level III Process – An Interconnection request for a small generating facility larger than two (2) MW but no larger than ten (10) MW, a Small generating facility that is not Certified, or a Certified small generating facility that does not pass the Level 1 Process or Level 2 Process.
Interconnection for facilities larger than ten (10) MW of installed capacity will be negotiated on a case by case basis. For Level 2 and Level 3 applications, members are strongly encouraged to complete the Pre-Application Report Request. For projects smaller than 25 kW (level I process), view interconnection details here.
Level II Process
The Level 2 Process (Fast Track) is available to a member proposing to interconnect its small generating facility with PVREA’s System if the small generating facility is certified and no larger than two (2) MW.
- Request – Submit the, highly recommended but optional, Pre-Application Report Request and a non-refundable application fee of $250 to evaluate project potential.
- Apply – Submit the Small Generator Interconnection Request and a non-refundable processing fee of $500 to PVREA.
- Review – PVREA will complete a timely review of the document under the specified parameters, including PVREA Interconnection Guidelines. Additional analysis, at the expense of the applicant, may be required.
- Approval – If approved, PVREA will provide and executable Interconnection Agreement.
- Inspection – Following installation and electrical inspection, the member submits the Certificate of Completion and PVREA will inspect the system while installing any necessary metering or other equipment.
Level III Process
The Level 3 Study process shall be used by a member proposing to interconnect its Small generating facility with PVREA’s system if the Small Generating Facility:
- is larger than two (2) MW but no larger than ten (10) MW;
- is not Certified; or
- is Certified but did not pass the Level 1 or Level 2 Process.
- Request – Submit the, highly recommended but optional, Pre-Application Report Request and a non-refundable application fee of $250 to evaluate project potential.
- Apply – Submit the Small Generator Interconnection Request and a non-refundable processing fee of $1000 to PVREA.
- Review – PVREA will complete a timely review of the document under the specified parameters, including PVREA Interconnection Guidelines. Additional review including the “Feasibility Study Agreement,” “System Impacts Study Agreement,” and/or “System Impacts Study Agreement”.
- Approval – If approved, PVREA will provide and executable Interconnection Agreement.
- Inspection – Following installation, the members submits the Certificate of Completion and PVREA may inspect the system while installing any necessary metering or other equipment.
