Your Solar Generation Options

As your local energy partner, our programs and services are designed to meet your energy needs – now and into the future.

For solar generation under 25 kW – often called rooftop solar – please visit our webpage here.

If you’re interested in generating above 25 kW but no larger than 10 MW continue below.

For solar generation needs above 10 MW, please contact us to discuss custom projects.

Interconnection Requests

Refer to our Generation Interconnection Procedures and Guidelines if you’re interested in connecting a solar generating facility where the total nameplate generating capacity connected at one meter location is above 25 kW and no larger than 10 MW.

DG Level II and Level III installations have two options for interconnection:

  • Option 1 – The member must use all generated output from the generation unit(s) without the export of any kind to the PVREA grid. A standby charge for PVREA service capacity will also be incurred.
    • For projects larger than 1 MW, the Tri-State G&T Standby Rate would also apply.
  • Option 2 – The member must sell all generated output from the generation unit(s) to PVREA at the DG Level II/III rate.
    • Note- The PVREA NET Metering Rate does not apply to generation unit(s) sized larger than 25 kW AC.

We provide two options for evaluating these types of larger interconnection requests. Please refer to the options below for more information or contact us with questions.

Level II Process – between 25 kW & 2 MW

Steps to submit an interconnection request for a certified generating facility above 25 kW and no larger than 2 MW.

  1. Your Review: Please review our Interconnection Procedures & Guidelines.
  2. Request: Submit the recommended Pre-Application Report Request. Submit a non-refundable application fee of $250 to evaluate project potential.
  3. Apply: Submit the Generator Interconnection Request and a non-refundable processing fee of $500.
  4. Our Review: We will complete a timely review of your application under the specified parameters. Additional analysis, at the expense of the applicant, may be required.
  5. Approval: If approved, we provide an executable Interconnection Agreement.
  6. Inspection: Following installation and electrical inspection, the member submits the Certificate of Completion and we will inspect the system while installing any necessary metering or other equipment.

Level III Process – larger than 2 MW but no larger than 10 MW

Steps to submit an interconnection request for a certified generating facility larger than 2 MW but no greater than 10 MW, or a small generating facility that is not certified, or a certified generating facility that does not pass the Level I or Level II processes.

  1. Your Review: Please review our Interconnection Procedures & Guidelines.
  2. Request: Submit the recommended Pre-Application Report Request. Submit a non-refundable application fee of $250 to evaluate project potential.
  3. Apply: Submit the Generator Interconnection Request and a non-refundable processing fee of $1,000.
  4. Our Review: We will complete a timely review of your application under the specified parameters. Additional analysis, at the expense of the applicant, may be required including a Feasibility Study Agreement and/or System Impacts Study Agreement.
  5. Approval: If approved, we provide an executable Interconnection Agreement.
  6. Inspection: Following installation and electrical inspection, the member submits the Certificate of Completion and we will inspect the system while installing any necessary metering or other equipment.
