At Poudre Valley REA, we don’t take your trust lightly.

Every time you flip a switch or turn on the thermostat on a cold Northern Colorado morning, you’re counting on us to deliver safely, affordably, and reliably. And we do, day after day, because this isn’t just our electric system. It’s all of ours.

That’s what makes the cooperative model so powerful. We’re locally governed. We’re not-for-profit. We’re accountable to the people we serve, our member-owners, not outside shareholders. Decisions about your electric service are made by neighbors who live and work in the same communities you do.

Poudre Valley REA has a proven track record we’re proud of: the lowest electric rates in Colorado, top-tier reliability, nationally recognized communications and service, and a top customer satisfaction score among electric utilities.

These successes don’t happen by accident. They happen because your co-op is designed to put people and communities first.

But here’s the reality: policy decisions made at the Colorado Capitol can either strengthen that model or unintentionally weaken it.

Too often, energy policy is shaped by a one-size-fits all approach that lumps all utilities together. When that happens, cooperatives are judged by the actions or circumstances of other utilities, leading to unnecessary, burdensome legislation that would make it harder to keep rates low, maintain reliability, and invest in the improvements that matter most to you.

That’s why we’re asking you to stand up for your co-op by using Cooperative Voices to contact your state legislators today. Your message can help lawmakers recognize the importance of cooperative-aware policymaking that protects local control and doesn’t undermine a model that’s already delivering results for Northern Colorado families, businesses, and communities.

The ask to our elected representatives is straightforward: keep our cooperative in mind when making legislative decisions. Protect what makes locally governed, member-owned utilities different. Don’t change what’s working.

To learn more about Cooperative Voices and how we work to ensure Poudre Valley REA continues serving you well, join us at our Annual Meeting on April 11. As a member-owned cooperative, this meeting is a valued tradition and an opportunity for you to hear updates, ask questions, connect with neighbors, and be part of the local decisions that shape our shared energy future.

If you’re ready to join our advocacy network and contact legislators on behalf of your co-op, do so on our Cooperative Voices page. It’s easy, simple, and will take less time than making a cup of coffee.

Thank you for being an engaged member-owner. Together, we’ll keep Poudre Valley REA the co-op you can count on, today and tomorrow.
