Tips For Staying Summer Heat Safe
Hot temperatures can impact anyone! Groups such as infants & young children, the elderly, those who are pregnant, outdoor workers, & those exercising outdoors are extremely susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion & heat stroke!

- Heat exhaustion symptoms include heavy sweating, cold, pale skin, fast, weak pulse, nausea & vomiting, & other physical symptoms.
- What to do: Move to a cool place, use a damp cloth to cool off, & drink cool sports drinks.
- Heat stroke symptoms include high body temperature, hot, red skin, fast, strong pulse, confusion, dizziness, & other physical symptoms.
- What to do: Call 911, move them to a cool place, & use ice bags to cool them off.
- Plan ahead!
- Spend time in air-conditioned areas out of the sun, drink plenty of water, plan outdoor events for cooler parts of the day or take breaks in the shade, & wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
