Delivering Value

Poudre Valley REA proudly offers the lowest residential rate of any electric cooperative in the state. We’re $29 lower than the state average, totaling a savings of nearly $350 per year on total electricity bills for our members.

Average Monthly Electric Bills in Colorado

There’s a lot that goes into bringing electricity from diverse generation sources to homes and businesses across Northern Colorado so our members can flip on a light switch and have electricity whenever they need it. We’re also routinely creating programs and services to add further value to the lives of our members – solutions aimed at saving you time, energy, and money.

In this era of economic uncertainty and price increases, we’re committed to protecting members from the full brunt of rising costs. Our careful and strategic approach allows your not-for-profit cooperative to seek efficiencies and innovation to operate as cost-effectively as possible, so your rates are as affordable as they can be.

Protecting Power Costs

In 2024, we anticipate a 7% increase in our wholesale power cost from our power provider, Tri-State, which accounts for 80% of our total expenses.  We remain focused on our commitment to affordability, and have taken proactive steps to protect our members from the full impact of these rising costs without compromising the quality of service you receive.

Thanks to our strong financial health and future-focused planning, including a commitment to do more with less, manage costs, and implement rate stabilization efforts, we are not passing on the entirety of these increased costs in 2024. Instead, we plan to phase in a rate adjustment over a three-year period, protecting members from much higher rates upfront.

Affordability Remains in Focus

Know that your cooperative is dedicated to managing this rate adjustment in a way that preserves our affordability while maintaining the high level of service you deserve and expect.

In 2024, our members will only be paying 0.0375% more than they were 7 years ago in 2017.

Even after these incremental increases, we will proudly remain the top-ranked cooperative in the state of Colorado for offering the lowest residential rate and among the lowest of any provider in the nation.

Understanding The Impact

Residential

Residential rates will incrementally increase approximately 2% per year for the next three years.

With this adjustment, members will see about a $2 increase on their monthly bill next year.

The off-peak energy charge and facilities charge are both decreasing in cost.
