How To Start Saving

Purchase a Google Nest, Ecobee, or Sensi smart thermostat and register your new device directly in their app by selecting Poudre Valley REA as your energy provider. That’s it! Find more detailed enrollment information below.

We apply your Power Peak Rewards credit to your PVREA account at signup and after the cooling season.

How Our Power Peak Rewards Program Works

Smart thermostats help your home’s heating and cooling be more energy efficient year round. But when everyone is using electricity all at once, like during hot summer afternoons, we call on our Power Peak Rewards members to significantly reduce the total electrical load on our system during the cooling season while keeping you comfortable.

Program Details

We potentially adjust your home’s temperature a few degrees. This only occurs a maximum of 20 times between May 1 and October 31, no more than once per day, between 1pm to 9pm, for no more than 4 hours at a time, and with no more than 4 events per week.

You must be a PVREA member with central air conditioning or a heat pump and working WiFi to participate.

Your Rewards

Earn one $50 bill credit for signing up. Receive an annual $30 Participation Reward after the cooling season, typically in November.

Rewards are paid per member, not per thermostat.

Why does PVREA manage my home’s cooling?

By lowering your energy usage we in turn lower our peak demand across the system which can result in savings from our power supplier. As a not-for-profit, we’re doing everything we can to keep our rates affordable.
When would PVREA control my cooling?

How can using smart vents & other smart technology impact me?

Some smart technologies can integrate into your home’s heating and cooling solutions – such as smart vents that work by automatically opening and closing to regulate the flow of conditioned air. While these technologies could offer you heating and cooling comfort, it is important to understand their potential impact to limit your ability to control your home’s thermostat and participate in Power Peak Rewards.

You should manage third party access and control through the Ecobee, Google Nest, or Sensi online account associated to your home’s smart thermostat. This may need to occur through a website and not through a mobile app.
How long am I enrolled in Power Peak Rewards?

Once you sign up for Power Peak Rewards, you’ll continue to receive annual reward benefits until you cancel your program enrollment or leave the cooperative.

To cancel your Power Peak Rewards enrollment, contact us by calling 800.432.1012.

By cancelling your Power Peak Rewards enrollment, you will no longer receive your annual reward incentive and will not be eligible to receive the one-time signup bonus should you decide to enroll in Power Peak Rewards again in the future.
Can I enroll through an app instead?
Yes! If members would prefer, they are able to sign up in these additional ways:

How To Enroll through Ecobee
1. Download the Ecobee app on your smart phone
2. Set up eco+
  Open your ecobee mobile app. If you haven’t already, set up eco+ for your home. If you have eco+, select if from the main menu.
3. Choose your utility provider
  In the eco+ menu, enable the Community Energy Savings feature and select ‘Poudre Valley REA.’
4. Enroll
  An offer from us will appear on the screen, including the incentive and the program terms and conditions. Select ‘OK’ to enroll in the program.

How To Enroll through Google Nest

To enroll in Power Peak Rewards through the Nest app on your phone, follow these instructions.
1. Download the Nest app.
2. Open the Nest app, then tap Settings, then click Rebates & Rewards.
3. Select Poudre Valley REA as your energy provider and sign up.
To enroll through the Google Home app on your phone, follow these instructions.
1. Download the Google Home app.
2. Open the Google Home app.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Under Nest services & support, tap Subscriptions .
5. Tap Rebates & Rewards.
6. Follow the rest of the onscreen prompts to enroll in programs that are available to you.
How To Enroll Through Sensi
1. Download the Sensi app.
2. Open the Sensi app, then tap the account icon.
3. Tap “Simple Savings”.
4. Tap “Energy Programs”.
