Farm Safety Starts With Awareness

Safety

Large farm equipment and electrical infrastructure can be a dangerous combination, making awareness and safe operating practices essential on every farm and ranch.

Before moving tractors, combines, hay equipment, grain trucks, or other large equipment, take time to identify overhead power lines, poles, and other electrical equipment in your work area.

Keep your equipment and attachments at least 10 feet away from overhead lines, and lower or fold equipment before traveling whenever possible.

If equipment contacts a power line, remain in the cab and call 911. Warn others to stay away and only exit if an immediate danger, such as fire, makes it necessary.
